Well, a few weeks ago – you may recall, I tried to persuade the brides and grooms of the future to see what we have here in Franklin to help make that special day “special”.
Check out our Wedding Feature page to see some of the businesses that can help with flowers, body toning and places to have the “do” and remember that you can always enter the Franklin Bride of the Year show to make use of that dress again, and win prizes in different categories, as well as helping to raise much needed funds for various charities!
This year’s Show will be helping to raise funds for Pukekohe’s St Johns Ambulance and the Kariotahi Surf Life Saving Club. The big prize this year will be a trip, so anyone who was, or will be, married between November 1st 2012 and November 1st 2013, is eligible to enter!!
Last year there were around 22 brides who entered, along with about 7 bridesmaids and 19 or 20 grooms. The brides were escorted down the aisle by Aaron Coe from Surf Life Saving Kariaotahi (who dressed for the occasion in speedos).
I know that although going back a few years now, I had connections to the Bride of the Year Show, and although a bit nrev wracking, it was a great chance for the brides to get their glad rags on again and have an evening of fun!
