It‘s officially SPRING TIME and if you are not from the rural regions, you may not be totally aware of the significance of this!
This is the time of the year that our rural primary schools have what we used to know as “Calf Club Days”
These days, some of the schools are still calling the day, Calf Club, others opt for things like “Country Life Day”, but whatever you like to call it, it usually means a fun and busy day for the kids, parents, grandparents and anyone else who just wants to get back to the “good old days” of rural school life! This weekend, Saturday 21st September is going to be a busy, busy, busy one. So far we have Mauku School with their Country Life day starting at 9:00 a.m, Ramarama School‘s Calf Club day from 8:30 until 1:30 with stalls open from 9:30 a.m and Patumahoe School with their Calf Club Day from 9:00 a.m to 12:30 p.m.
If you were really keen to have a real country day out, there is the option to do the rounds of these schools and check out the stalls, pony rides, home baking, bouncy castles, BBQ lunches and more, before heading to the Steelers ITM Shield game at ECO Light Stadium, ready for the 2:35 p.m kick off.!
What more could you ask for? – and it’s ALL here in Franklin … bring it on!!
Look out everyone – it’s Ladies Lunch at the Track again!
Grab your tickets and get ready for the “must attend local lunch on the calender”. Grab a group of friends and make a day of it at Counties Racing Club on Wednesday 10th July.
A great excuse to put on your best duds and have a fun day with lunch at the Oaks Lounge, drinks on arrival, delicious buffet lunch and dessert designed by chef MJ Fox, spot prizes, an MC, beauty stands, your essential racebook and of course live horse racing action.
What more could a girl want??
