Once again Pukekohe is set to be the place to be for car enthusiasts!
This weekend (Saturday 1st March and Sunday 2nd March) will be home to many who are looking for a bargain at the local Swap Meet. This year is the 37th annual meet and is a source of great….no – HUGE interest for anyone looking to get parts for their do-ups, or wanting to buy a classic or Hot Rod vehicle.
The saying of “One man’s rubbish is another man’s gold” is very appropriate here!
The Pukekohe Showgrounds is the venue, and it’s an early start for those who are really serious about either selling or buying. Be prepared!
The kids are catered for too, with Thomas the Tank Engine making a great excuse for a day out over both days this weekend.
If that doesn’t grab you, head to the Possum Bourne Reserve on Paerata Road, for the Gypsy Travellers Fair – or you may just be able to fit everything in as they are all over two days!
Get out into the sunshine (hopefully) and experience Franklin Country!!
Then it’s only a matter of weeks before THE event – the V8 Supercars.
Pukekohe will be buzzing over the weekend of 24 – 27 April with the ITM 500 series V8 Supercars.
Although this weekend is the marking of ANZAC day, the drivers and staff from the racing teams are said to be attending the ANZAC service and have the support of RSA New Zealand, on this.
For those who are interested in the $$ side of things – last year, the V8’s had a monetary impact on the GDP of $7.4 mil, with over 117,000 attendees and broadcasts to 135 countries – so that is pretty darn huge!
We are a nation/world of racing nutters and the rivalry between the Aussies and New Zealanders is always fierce!
Much of our regions accommodation has already been taken but there may still be a few beds around if anyone is looking, and the possibility of another campground being operated for the event.
Then of course we have heaps of eating places – whether it’s KFC, Subway or a restaurant style, our website will be able to give you some ideas.
So there you go…..just a couple of things to think about, if you haven’t already!
