This is a scary but true story, the end is still in the making –
Local man, Robbie Ritchie, needs all the help that he and his family can get!!
Robbie and his family are Franklin locals, Pukekohe East, in fact and need HUGE help to raise money to go to Germany for a life saving operation.
As a 14 year old, Robbie ran a race at school and at the end of the race, sat down on the grass and had his first seizure ( he did actually come 2nd in the race, a fact that he wants pointed out!!). After many tests, the outcome was found that Robbie had a very large arteriovenous malformation on the brain.
Generally, this can be operated on successfully, but Robbie has the largest and most dangerous form with, so far, an 80% chance of brain haemorrhage. This risk is increasing and so a date has been given to the family of 12th August, by the International Neuroscience Institute in Hannover, Germany, for the operation.
The cost of this life saving operation is not cheap at around $100,000, which needs to be paid before the family head to Germany.
If anyone can help in any way, the family would be ecstatic and two children would get to keep their dad!!
